Conservation tillage has many benefits like reducing erosion and increasing water retention. However, the increased crop residue can harbor insects in the un-incorporated corn residue and weeds in the field. Conventional tillage would help eliminate that residue and remove the habitable environment for some insects. That said, if your management program includes; weed management, crop rotation, planting and harvest timing and trait selection you may be able to lower insect pressure without switching tillage practices.
